What Does a Professional Deep Clean Include? (Room-by-Room)

8 min read Deep Cleaning

When someone says "deep clean," it can mean different things to different people. To some it means cleaning behind the couch. To others it means a full top-to-bottom reset of every room. If you are paying for a professional deep cleaning service, you deserve to know exactly what you are getting before anyone sets foot in your home.

This guide covers precisely what Sunshine Clean & Care's deep cleaning service includes, room by room. If you are comparing services or wondering what justifies the price difference over a regular clean, this is your answer.

What this post covers:

  • Kitchen: every surface, appliance, and hidden spot
  • Bathrooms: grout, tile, fixtures, and everything behind them
  • Bedrooms: baseboards, fans, and under furniture
  • Living areas: blinds, light fixtures, and switch plates
  • What is NOT included (and how to add it)
  • How to prepare your home before the team arrives

Kitchen Deep Clean: What Gets Done

The kitchen collects the most grime of any room in the house. Grease from cooking lands on every surface within 4 to 6 feet of the stove, even when you cannot see it. A deep clean addresses all of it.

  • Inside the microwave: splatter on walls, ceiling, and door. Cleaned with a degreasing solution, not just wiped.
  • Inside the oven: baked-on residue on oven walls, racks, and door glass. This is one of the most skipped tasks in any regular clean.
  • Inside the refrigerator: all shelves, drawers, and door compartments removed and washed. Door seals wiped down to remove mold and food residue.
  • Behind and underneath the refrigerator and stove: pulled out, floor cleaned underneath, coils or vents dusted on the refrigerator.
  • Range hood and filter: filter soaked and scrubbed to remove grease. Hood exterior and interior wiped down.
  • Cabinet doors and drawer fronts: all fingerprints, grease, and buildup wiped from exterior surfaces. Inside cabinet surfaces wiped if accessible.
  • Backsplash: grease and food splatter scrubbed from tile and grout.
  • Sink basin and faucet: scrubbed and descaled. Hard water stains removed from around the base of the faucet.
  • Countertops: all items moved, surfaces cleaned underneath and behind. Grout lines on tile counters scrubbed.
  • Garbage disposal: deodorized and cleaned.
  • Baseboards and toe kicks: wiped down, including behind the refrigerator and under the kickplate of cabinets.
  • Light fixtures: wiped down or dusted, including above the stove hood.

Bathroom Deep Clean: What Gets Done

Bathrooms are the fastest room to deteriorate without regular deep cleaning, especially in Tampa Bay where humidity accelerates mold and mineral buildup. A maintenance clean keeps bathrooms looking clean on the surface. A deep clean addresses what is underneath.

  • Grout lines on walls and floors: scrubbed with a grout brush and appropriate cleaner. Shower floors and walls, tile surrounds, and floor grout all addressed.
  • Behind and around the base of the toilet: including the floor behind the toilet, the bolts at the base, and the underside of the tank lid.
  • Shower door tracks and seals: soap scum and mold buildup removed from all tracks, rollers, and rubber seals.
  • Showerhead and faucets: descaled to remove mineral deposits. Polished to restore shine.
  • Exhaust fan cover: removed, washed, dried, and replaced. A dusty exhaust fan can reduce airflow by up to 50%.
  • Shower curtain liner: wiped or washed if fabric.
  • Inside medicine cabinets: wiped down, including shelves and mirrors.
  • Under-sink cabinet: emptied (by client in advance if preferred), interior wiped, and checked for moisture.
  • Window sills and frames: wiped down, including tracks if present.
  • Light fixtures and bulbs: wiped or dusted.
  • Baseboards: wiped down including behind the toilet and around the base of the vanity.

Bedroom Deep Clean: What Gets Done

Bedrooms accumulate dust, dander, and allergens more than most people realize. The deep clean tasks here are less visible than kitchen or bathroom work, but they make a real difference in air quality, especially for anyone with allergies or asthma.

  • Baseboards: wiped down on all walls, including behind nightstands and dressers. In Florida homes, baseboards near exterior walls collect mold spores fast.
  • Ceiling fans: blades wiped down on both sides. Fan housing dusted. Many fans in Tampa Bay homes haven't had the blades cleaned in months.
  • Light fixtures: dusted or wiped, including glass shades if present.
  • Under the bed: vacuumed with proper attachments. Dust bunnies and pet hair removed.
  • Behind and under furniture: dressers, nightstands, and desks moved or cleaned around. Floors vacuumed or mopped in those areas.
  • Window sills and tracks: wiped down. Interior glass cleaned.
  • Door frames and door handles: wiped down.
  • Light switch plates and outlet covers: wiped clean.
  • Closet shelves: wiped if accessible with items moved aside.
  • Mirrors: streak-free clean.

Living Areas Deep Clean: What Gets Done

Living rooms and common areas take on a lot of invisible buildup: pollen from open windows, pet hair in upholstery, fingerprints near light switches, and dust layered on horizontal surfaces nobody looks at from above.

  • Blinds: each slat wiped individually. This is different from dusting, which just moves dust around. Horizontal blinds collect pollen and dust on the top of every slat.
  • Ceiling fans: blades cleaned on both sides.
  • Light fixtures: cleaned, including any glass covers or globes.
  • Baseboards throughout: wiped on all walls including behind sofas and entertainment units.
  • Walls near light switches: fingerprint buildup wiped from around every switch plate and door handle.
  • Window sills, tracks, and interior glass: all wiped and cleaned.
  • Under couch cushions: cushions lifted, crumbs and debris vacuumed.
  • Under furniture: vacuumed or mopped beneath sofas, chairs, and entertainment centers.
  • Door frames: top and sides wiped down.
  • Air vents: covers wiped or vacuumed.

What Is NOT Included in a Standard Deep Clean

Being specific about what is not included matters just as much as what is. A few items fall outside the scope of a standard deep clean but can be added as specific requests when booking.

  • Exterior windows: the outside of windows is not included. Interior glass is. If you need exterior window cleaning, mention it when booking.
  • Garage: the garage is not included unless specifically discussed.
  • Carpet or upholstery steam cleaning: vacuuming is included. Steam cleaning or wet extraction requires separate equipment and is a separate service.
  • Laundry: washing or folding clothes is not part of cleaning service.
  • Organizing or decluttering: a deep clean works around items in their current location. If counters or surfaces are heavily cluttered, some tasks may be limited. Moving or organizing personal belongings is not included.
  • Biohazard or hazardous material cleanup: rodent droppings, mold remediation, sewage, and similar situations require specialized services.

If you are looking at a move-out situation, the task list goes even further. Our move-in/move-out cleaning service covers inside all cabinets and drawers, all closets, all appliances, and is specifically designed to meet the standards landlords and property managers check for deposit return.

How to Prepare Your Home Before the Team Arrives

A deep clean goes faster and covers more ground when the team does not spend time working around clutter. Here is what helps most:

  • Clear countertops in the kitchen and bathrooms. The cleaners can work faster and get into corners more thoroughly when surfaces are clear.
  • Put away dishes or load the dishwasher before the team arrives. Leave the dishwasher door closed so the interior can be cleaned.
  • Remove items from under sinks if you want those areas cleaned. It is fine to leave them in, but the interior cleaning will be limited around what is stored there.
  • Pick up clothing and personal items from floors and surfaces so the team can reach baseboards and floor areas without moving belongings.
  • Secure or crate pets during the cleaning, or let us know they will be present. It helps the team work safely and efficiently, and prevents pets from ingesting cleaning products.
  • Note any areas that need special attention when you book. If the oven interior is a priority or a specific bathroom needs extra grout work, tell us upfront and the team will plan accordingly.
